CONTRACT CONFIRMED: Kelvin Sarkorh signs with Dalvik/Reynir

March 14, 2018

The SoccerViza Pro November showcase attendee secures contract in the North of Iceland with Dalvik/Reynir.

It’s been quite the journey for Kelvin Sarkorh these past two months. The left-footed center back from (School) was identified at the SoccerViza Men’s Professional Showcase by Thor Akureyri Head Coach, Larus Siggurdson and offered a 10 day trial with the club at the end of January. He performed well but did not earn himself a contract and was quickly recommended by SoccerViza to Leknir Reykjavik, where he spent two weeks with the club.

“To be honest I had the opportunity to watch Kelvin play for Leknir against Breiðablik who is regarded as one of the top clubs in the country. It was actually the same week as our SV Pro All-Star Team trip to Iceland. I got to bring all the boys to the game to watch Kelvin, as well as offer two players from the All-star team a trial in the same game. I really thought Kelvin was one of the best players on the field for Leknir and also thought he did enough to earn a spot, but sometimes that’s how it goes. The coach was just looking for something different in a center back. I felt for him after that Leknir game, I really did.” - Joe Funicello, SoccerViza Director.

But after two well-performed trials, things actually took a turn for the better as Kelvin was offered a contract by Icelandic 3rd division club. Dalvik/Reynir had watched Kelvin closely while on trial with Thor Akureyri and liked what they saw enough to offer him a contract.

“I was pretty down after the Leknir game because I felt I performed so well. But after speaking with Joe he made me understand that sometimes coaches just see things differently and unfortunately that is just the way it is. Shortly after I arrived back from the states Dalvik/Reynir put a contract offer to me, I was able to work out the terms to what I felt I needed to play for the club and now I will be heading to Iceland to play for the summer season. I am excited to keep playing and help Dalvik/Reynir push forward during the season.”

Kelvin will leave for Iceland at the end of this month and will look to have a strong first season in Iceland to hopefully keep building his resume and career.
