Finnish coach Toni Korkeakunnas, head coach of FC Lahti, will return to SoccerViza for the second winter transfer window in a row, looking for players for FC Lahti for their 2017 season.
It’s been a down year for the typically strong club outside of Helsinki, as injury and misfortune has turned the tables on them. Usually one of the Top 5 clubs in Finland, they will be looking next year to surge back up to the top of the table.
“It’s great to have Toni back to one of our combines,” SoccerViza CEO Joe Funicello commented.
“He was great with the players last year, coaching them through their games and providing energy on the sidelines. The players enjoyed his presence, and I’m glad he’s decided that his first scouting stop for the 2017 season will be with us.”
As a player, Toni played almost 300 games in Finland, before embarking on his coaching career, where he enters his 17th year this season, including a campaign with the U-19 National Team.
Six SoccerViza players earned trial or contract opportunities in Finland during the last winter transfer window, and the number looks to go up this coming window with the new combine format, which will see players qualify for the Showcase through Regional ID Camps, raising the level of play at the main event and allowing more players to be highlighted and earn professional opportunities.
