Breidablik is the second Icelandic team to confirm for SoccerViza’s annual Florida combine, FH, who the Kopavogur-based team narrowly finished second place to this past season. It was the third consecutive season in which the title was decided by five points or less.
In finishing second, Breidablik earned a berth to the Europa League qualifying stages, and will find out their opponent during the first round draw on June 20, 2016.
Breidablik has been one of the strongest teams in the country over the past decade, regularly challenging for the title and making European competition in four of the past six years. Their biggest result to date is defeating Austrian giants Sturm Graz in the second round of Europa League qualifying in the 2013-14 campaign. Though they were knocked out in the third round by Aktobe on penalties, their victory over Sturm Graz ranks as one of the famous upsets by an Icelandic club in European play.
“Breidablik is a team that has been constantly pushing over the past several years,” SoccerViza Founder and CEO Joe Funicello commented.
“They’ve been a consistent force at the top of the Pepsi League, and bringing them in the SoccerViza family has been a top priority. I’m excited to work with them going forward, and have yet another outlet in the Icelandic Premier League for SoccerViza players.”
SoccerViza’s Florida combine will be held in Auburndale, Florida, January 25-27, at the Lake Myrtle Sports Park about 30 minutes outside of Orlando.
