Icelandic Premier League club IBV has confirmed that assistant coach Alfred Johansson will be in attendance at SoccerViza’s annual winter transfer window combine held in Auburndale, Florida.
Johansson will be attending his second SoccerViza combine, after representing second division club KF Aegir in 2014 as their head coach. Johansson went on to take four SoccerViza players on trial, and sign three of them, for the 2015 season.
After last season with Aegir, Johansson earned a promotion to assistant coach of IBV, a team with a history of success in the Icelandic Premier League, having captured the title three times, and the cup four times.
IBV finished 10th in 2015, and is geared up to make a push in 2016 that brings back the memories of their success in the 1990s, which saw them win four trophies from 1997 to 1998.
“I am very excited to have IBV looking at SoccerViza players again. They brought Joey Spivack in on trial in 2014, and it earned him an opportunity to spend the next year and a half in Iceland.” SoccerViza Founder and CEO Joe Funicello commented.
“IBV has shown that they will take a chance on our players, and Alfred has shown that as well when he was with Aegir. This is a great opportunity for players to show themselves in front of a coach and a club that have proven to have an open mind and the willingness to take a chance on players.”
SoccerViza’s Auburndale, Florida combine will take place from January 25-27, outside of Orlando, Florida.
