The Danbury Sports Dome will host its sixth SoccerViza combine this October, and the first of SoccerViza’s new ID Combine scouting model.
Players will converge on Danbury, Connecticut from October 10-11, and will compete over the two day event for a spot in SoccerViza’s East Coast Showcase in November, which will feature 60 of the best undiscovered players in the Eastern United States, from Maine to Florida.
SoccerViza’s East Coast Showcase combine will be the first elite regional event in SoccerViza’s new system, and will draw the 60 best players from upcoming ID Combines in Danbury, Richmond, Virginia, and Bradenton, Florida. Those 60 players will go on to compete for free at the East Coast Showcase in November, with the opportunity to sign professional contracts with clubs in Europe, the United States, Mexico, and Asia.
“I’m excited to return to Danbury for another event,” SoccerViza CEO Joe Funicello said.
“There’s always a great standard of player there, and from the previous events, almost 30 players went on to professional opportunities. I’m looking forward to seeing what this year’s group of players has to show.”
The last time a SoccerViza event came to Danbury, seven players received an opportunity out of it: James Pucci; Aurelien Norest; Anthony Ferrara; Emerson Lawrence; Nate McCann; Matt Nigro; and Gabriel Wirz.
Pucci, Norest, Nigro, and Ferrara went on to sign with Vestri FC in Iceland, while Wirz signed with FC Jazz in Finland. Lawrence earned a trial with KTP in Finland, and McCann earned a pre-season camp invite with Harrisburg City Islanders in USL.
Other previous Danbury combine attendees to sign contracts in Europe since 2015 include Mateusz Brela with GBK Kokkola in Finland, Tony Halterman with Nordvarmlands FF in Sweden, Roberto Del Toro with Sintrense in Portugal, and Will Daniels and Uche Onyeador with KF Aegir in Iceland.
