Jesper Tollefsen began his coaching career at AGF Aarhus in the youth academy, working his way up from the U-14 level to to become the Academy Director, and then assistant coach of the first team over a 7-year period. Afterwards, Jesper took on head coaching roles at FC Aarhus, Hjorring IF, Leiknir Reykjavik, Vikingur Reykjavik, LFA (now known as Nykobing FC), FC Fyn, and finally Aarhus Fremad.
While at AGF, Jesper coached his U-16 and U-18 teams to two Danish championships, and for a nearly two-year stretch from early 2011 to late 2012 with LFA and FC Fyn, Jesper had the highest points-per-game average of any coach in Denmark, going on to win the league and promotion for Fyn in the process.
Jesper now works as an unaffiliated scout for a host of clubs in Iceland and Denmark where he maintains strong connections and is able to recommend players. This will be Jesper’s first time to a SoccerViza combine, and he is looking forward to finding new options for talent in Denmark from the U-19 to first team level, as well as to supplement the SoccerViza staff’s scouting arrangements for Iceland.
“I am very excited to bring Jesper into the SoccerViza Family,” Player and Team Relations Director Christopher McCollum commented.
“Denmark is an incredible region to play, with a high standard and great opportunity to move into western Europe if you prove yourself. Jesper’s experience at so many different levels of the Danish system means he’ll be an absolutely invaluable resource for SoccerViza players who are looking to explore new frontiers and break new ground.”
Some notable players who played in Denmark before moving to other countries include U.S. World Cup veterans Benny Feilhaber and Aron Johannsson, Canadian internationals Patrice Bernier and Atiba Hutchinson, Costa Rican international and current Everton player Bryan Oviedo, and a host of others from around the world.
Jesper joins Rodolfo Vaz from SCU Torreense and Lito Vidigal from FC Arouca in scouting the Toronto combine, along with SoccerViza founder Joe Funicello looking for summer additions for his own team, Vestri FC in Iceland.
SoccerViza’s Toronto combine will take place June 6-8.
