CONFIRMED: Tony Halterman On Trial With Nordvarmlands FF

April 19, 2016

Tony Halterman, a member of the SoccerViza family since 2014, has joined Nordvarmlands FF on trial for this week, and has already steered the club to victory in his first game over the weekend.

“I’m thrilled to be going on trial in Sweden,” Tony told SoccerViza shortly before flying to Europe.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity for me; Europe has always been the dream, the plan, and now I’m one step closer to making it a reality.”

Nordvarmlands FF is in Division 3, Sweden’s fifth tier, having been relegated from Division 2 last season. The club was founded in 2004 and climbed the ladder quickly to Sweden’s upper tiers, and has been moving between Division 2 and 3 since 2011.

The club found Tony’s profile on the SoccerViza Network and identified him as being a potential asset to their club for the upcoming 2016 campaign, and invited him over for trial as a result.

“It’s Europe and it’s football,” Tony commented as he described what he was looking forward to.

“I’m excited to get out there and play and to show the club what I can do. And it’s always a great learning experience playing the game in another part of the world. Aside from the playing, I’m looking forward to exploring. It’s a new land, and a new culture. Definitely something to look forward to on its own aside from the game.”

It’s been a tough pre-season for Tony at times, receiving invitations from clubs in America only to receive marching orders before truly getting a chance to prove himself. The call to Europe came at the right time between camp offers in the United States, and it was an opportunity that he found himself prepared for.

“It’s a huge relief to get offered this opportunity in Europe. It’s been rough in the American pre-seasons this year, constantly getting let go from clubs. But when you have Chris [McCollum], Joe [Funicello], and the rest of the SoccerViza staff who believe in you and know what you’re capable of, the next opportunity is always around the corner. Europe is the place to be for football, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to head over there and play.”

Tony suited up for his first game with Nordvarmlands on Saturday, winning 2-1 over Villastadens FF. You can follow along with Tony’s progress through SoccerViza’s social media.
