CONFIRMED: KF Aegir Takes Three On Trial

February 25, 2016

Continuing the positive relationship built during the last winter transfer window, KF Aegir has identified Daniel Kuczynski, Paxton Ballard, and Jannik Eckenrode to bring in on trial this pre-season. The trio landed in Reykjavik on Monday, and will see out a week of training and pre-season games with the second division club.

Looking to bolster the roster for this coming season, Aegir is looking for defensive help in Ballard, a midfield general in Eckenrode, and a goalscorer to replace Will Daniels in Kuczynski.

Daniel Kuczynski

22, impressed at SoccerViza’s San Diego combine in November, and turned down other opportunities in order to take his game to Europe. It’s a move a long time coming, having left Poland as a youth to live in Canada, before enjoying a successful collegiate career at Cal State Stanislaus, where he scored 26 goals in 32 games with the Warriors. While at Cal State, Kuczynski also played with the San Jose Earthquakes U-23 side, where he led the team in scoring in 2014, notching 7 goals in 10 games.

Jannick Eckenrode

22, attended SoccerViza’s Auburndale combine in January, after finishing at George Mason University where he captained the program in his junior and senior years. The German-American midfielder was a force for the Patriots in his time, playing everywhere in the middle of the field from a 10 to a 6. He finished his collegiate career with 14 goals and 14 assists. Prior to his senior season at George Mason, Jannik trained in Germany with SV Wiesbaden and was invited into pre-season with Babelsberg 03, before ultimately deciding to finish his degree before turning pro.

Paxton Ballard

23, was identified at SoccerViza’s Danbury combine in July, 2015, where his technical play out of the back turned heads. While ultimately having to wait for his opportunity, the former Hereford United and Romulus FC defender was discovered on the SoccerViza Network by KF Aegir’s chairman, and will receive his chance in Iceland.

KF Aegir finished in 9th place last season under the leadership of head coach of Alfred Johannsson, who has since moved to the role of assistant coach at Icelandic Premier League club IBV.
